Why Dance & Parkinson's?

People with Parkinson’s Disease experience symptoms such as freezing, problems initiating movement, weight shifting, balance, as well as isolation and depression. This can easily lead one towards a low Quality of Life if not provided the adequate means of coping. When participating in dynamic and creative movement classes, optimally on a twice a week basis, participants often experience improvement in their overall Quality of Life. The benefits are physical, psychological and social – for both the person with Parkinson’s Disease and the Caregiver.

Join the Family!

Step Up for Parkinson’s is a family, we perform together, laugh together, celebrate, and support one another in every way that we can. It is more than just dance classes, we are 170+ people who are all having a similar experience in which we can share, and help provide a means of coping through community support, music, movement, and a space free of judgement where you are encouraged to be creative and expressive.
